Dental Implants

A missing tooth can be more than just a cosmetic embarrassment. If left untreated, it can affect your bite, your speech pattern, and chewing efficiency. Dental implants are a permanent solution that looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are an excellent choice for the replacement of one or more missing teeth. They may also be utilized to stabilize loose false teeth (dentures). In some instances, they may be used in a complete full mouth reconstruction often referred to as "all of 4".

Some of the advantages are:

  • Allows you to chew normally

  • Do not require the grinding down of adjacent healthy teeth like a bridge does

  • There is no stress placed on surrounding teeth

  • Can be utilized to stabilize a denture

  • Preserves bone so that facial collapse that often occurs with tooth extraction is prevented.

The Dental Implant Process

To determine if you are a candidate for a dental implant is a pretty straight forward process.. The following information is gathered:

  • Health history review

  • X-ray or CT scan

  • Gum Examination

  • Bite evaluation

Depending on your individual needs am appropriate implant may be chosen for you. Often times an implant may be placed at the time of tooth extraction. Implants may also be used to stabilize existing false teeth.  There are many different types and scenarios that Dr Alex would be happy to discuss with you.
